Principle Based Teaching

September 11 / 2014 - September 14 / 2014

4 days intensive training for trainers, teachers and anyone and everyone who loves sharing Nonviolent Communication

Program Description

This 4-day intensive focuses on shifting from how to why, while embodying the principles and practice of NVC every step of the way – from planning to delivery. This methodology, developed by Miki over years of investigation:

  • starts with understanding what the people in your audience face in their environment,
  • continues with what they might want to learn and how NVC principles can provide them with what they want, and
  • ends with how you can frame the principles in a language and context that speak to your audience’s familiar experience.

Instead of viewing NVC as a formal process of communication, and the OFNR components and the dialogue template as the centerpiece of your teaching, the premise of this approach is that these are practice tools that help us deepen and integrate a transformation of consciousness. You can focus on what specific aspects of NVC are more relevant to the intended audience and describe those in terms of what people can concretely do when they leave the workshop.

Study Documents

In addition, Miki is making available the materials she has developed in support of this approach to teaching. They are available on this separate PBT documents page. We ask that you pay at least $30 for these approximately 40 pages of materials unless you have already received them at an in-person Principle-Based Teaching workshop in 2012.
